Insurance Coverage Highlights
Will reimburse your nonrefundable, pre-paid Trip payments/deposits, up to the amount insured, if cancellation occurs before your scheduled departure because of covered reason in the plan. These covered reasons may include illness, injury, death, strike, and weather.
Will reimburse (up to the maximum for the Option selected) your non-refundable prepaid and unused Trip payments when your Trip is interrupted after departure because of covered reasons by the plan. Coverage may include reimbursement for additional transportation expenses to join or rejoin the Trip or to return home.
If your trip is delayed 12 hours or more due to covered reasons, you will be reimbursed for reasonable additional expenses, up to the maximum for the Option you selected. Covered reasons include carrier-caused delays, lost passport, strike, and the weather.
Reimbursement of Miles & Rewards
If you cancel your trip for a covered reason, benefits will be paid up to $75, depending on your plan, for any penalty cost of depositing the miles or rewards back in the account from which they were removed. This will not duplicate any benefits paid under the Trip Cancellation benefit.
The plan will reimburse you up to a maximum of $1,500, depending on your plan, for additional transportation costs and reasonable accommodations to catch up to your cruise or tour if you miss your group departure because your arrival at the Trip Destination is delayed 3 or more hours due to a covered reason.
Will pay for reasonable and customary medical and surgical services of a physician, nurse, or hospital as a result of a covered Injury or Sickness first occurring on your Trip, up to the plan maximum. Included are related medication expenses and emergency dental treatment while on the trip.
Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation and Return of Remains
Will pay reasonable Medical charges for emergency medical evacuation required by a Physician, for a covered Injury or Sickness, to the nearest adequate medical facility or home if medically necessary, up to the maximum for the Option you selected. All evacuations require advance notification of to the Worldwide Travel Assistance Center.
Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver (Not Available For Basic Plan)
If you have been treated or diagnosed with an illness or injury during the 60-day period prior to the effective date of your policy, that illness or injury is not covered unless it qualifies under the waiver. The Pre-Existing Condition exclusion is waived 1) if you purchased the policy within 21 days of the initial deposit to book the covered trip; and 2) you and the covered travelers are not disabled from travel at the time this policy is purchased.
Cancel/Interruption for Any Reason Upgrade (Not available to residents of NY)
This benefit is available at an additional cost with the Elite plan and will pay 75% of your prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable payments/deposits for the covered trip provided 1) you purchase the optional Cancel/Interruption for Any Reason coverage within 21 days of your initial trip payment/deposit; 2) you insure the full cost of all non-refundable prepaid trip arrangements; 3) you insure the full cost of any subsequently booked trip arrangements within 21 days of the payment/confirmation for those additional arrangements; and 4) the trip is cancelled at least 2 days prior to the scheduled departure.
An American traveler suffered a presumed appendicitis attack in Uzbekistan. The facilities in this area were below western standards, lacking many essential supplies and sterile equipment. Our assistance provider evacuated the traveler by air ambulance with medical escort to Helsinki, Finland where emergency surgery was performed.*
An 85-year old woman was on an educational tour of the U.K. when she fell at a train station, fracturing her elbow. Surgery could not be performed immediately after the accident, so the patient decided to have the procedure at home. Our assistance company arranged for wheelchair assistance at the airport and for Business Class tickets for her and her daughter, as a non-medical escort, to fly home to Wisconsin.*
A couple's grandchild was born early, with serious medical complications, and was placed in intensive care. Although they were anticipating their upcoming trip, the couple chose to cancel and remain home with their family members. The couple had purchased our plan including trip cancellation insurance and were reimbursed for 100% of their loss of prepaid travel arrangements.*
